CEMAFON welcomed to Foundrybench Project23.02. - 25.02.2010 At the meeting of the consortium of the European research project Foundrybench on February 23-25, 2010 in Gotenburg (Sweden), Dr Habig, General Secretary of CEMAFON, gave a presentation on the activities of CEMAFON and its particular interest in this project. The Foundrybench project’s overall goal is to foster energy efficiency and rational energy use in the metal casting sector. The project will involve directly at least 15 participating foundries to improve their energy efficiency by providing them with clear information on their energy use and energy flows. A pool of energy saving options generated through these energy analyses will be described in a guide of the best energy saving solutions for foundries. An online database to reach a wider foundry sector audience will be launched. An Energy Efficiency Index for the metal casting industry, taking into consideration the production technology and product type, will be developed. The benchmarking results will be actively promoted among foundries and policy makers to improve the foundry industry’s energy performance. The project consortium consists of eight partners from Finland, Sweden, Germany, UK, Spain, France and Poland. The partners are recognised consultants, research institutes and industry association. Dr Habig made clear that CEMAFON can contribute to the project by
Objectives and structure of the project can be seen from the slides in the members area. Work package 2 "Development of common energy analysis methods" is about to be finalised and work package 3 "Implementation of energy analysis in 15 cooperating foundries" is presently underway. The next interim report is scheduled for July 2010. At GIFA 2011, various presentations on preliminary results of the projects are foreseen. The official status of CEMAFON in this project is presently discussed with Intelligent Energy Europe, being the contracting authority for this project. |
